Vicarage Primary School in East Ham achieved the highest Ofsted rating in its most recent inspection on June 20 and 21.

The report on the Newham school was released last Saturday (August 2).

In the report, the school was praised for allowing pupils to excel and stated that behaviours and attitudes were exceptional.

Quintin Peppiatt, Vicarage Primary School and New Vision Trust chair, said that this rating puts the school within the UK’s top 10%.

Headteacher Shabana Khan said: “This achievement is a testament to the dedication, passion and relentless hard work of our incredible staff, our supportive parents and governors and most importantly our amazing children.”

“Leaders promote an exceptional curriculum which often takes pupils beyond the national curriculum requirements,” the report added.

Vicarage, an academy converter part of the New Vision Trust, teaches children aged three to 11.

It was previously rated ‘good’ – the second highest rating – after an inspection on March 22 and 23 in 2022.
