In just a few short weeks, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be expanding across all of Greater London.

The ULEZ, proposed by London Mayor Sadiq Khan will see vehicles that do not meet emission standards forced to pay £12.50 a day.

The scheme has seen mixed reactions, with some suggestions that it’s the wrong time as many struggle with the cost of living crisis.

Whilst Khan has launched the ULEZ scrappage scheme, which offers to help those eligible get a car that meets standard, many are still struggling to come to terms with the expansion.

Now just weeks away from the ULEZ expansion officially taking place, many are getting prepared to pay the charge.

When is the ULEZ expanding across all of Greater London?

Transport for London (TfL) states that the ULEZ will be expanding across all of Greater London on Tuesday, August 29.

From that day, anyone who drives a vehicle that does not meet emission standards will face the £12.50 charge.

Who has to pay the ULEZ charge?

As previously mentioned the ULEZ charge for Greater London expansion applies to all that do not meet the emission standards.

This includes cars, motorcycles, vans and specialist vehicles (up to and including 3.5 tonnes) and minibusses (up to and including 5 tonnes).

Plus, the charge is not just for UK-registered vehicles as owners of non-UK registered vehicles also need to meet the ULEZ emissions standards or pay the daily charge to drive within the zone.
