A former councillor has been praised as “kind-hearted” and “hard-working” after his death.

Nic Dodin, who served as a Hornchurch Residents Association councillor for Hacton ward between 2010 and 2018, died on July 28.

He has been praised for his time in office, including work on environment and children’s health committees.

Dilip Patel, Conservative councillor for St Mawney’s ward, said Nic made him feel very welcome when he attended his first health sub-committee.

“Not only he is a great loss to his family but our borough has lost a hard-working, kind-hearted person,” he said.

“He will be surely missed.”

Cllr Patel added that his former colleague was fond of and collected classic cars.

Havering Council said Nic also supported charities including Havering Association for People with Disabilities and Havering Police and Community Consultative Group.
