Thameslink services may be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes after the incident at Farringdon station earlier today (June 10).
Platform 3 of the station is closed after the scooter caused damage to the southbound railway track.
National Rail first reported the incident just before 11am this morning, and disruption is expected until around 2pm.

Customers were advised that their journeys may take at least 20 to 30 minutes longer than planned, as both northbound and southbound trains were having to depart from Platform 4.
Customers took to Twitter to complain about the delays, with many claiming they were stuck on stationary trains in hot weather.
One said that they were stuck on a train between London Bridge and Blackfriars, stating that they had “no water” and that it was “extremely hot” in the carriage.
We are stuck on a train between London Bridge and Blackfriars. It is extremely hot and we have no water. Can you put the air con on please.

Another urged Thameslink to “unlock the door” of their train so that they could get off at the station and make “other travel arrangements”.
Thanks – so no idea when the train will be moving? Can you ask the driver to unlock the door so people can get out at the station (where train is) and make other travel arrangements?

Technicians from Network Rail are currently working to repair the damaged track.
TfL said that step-free access was also not available to the Elizabeth line at the station due to a faulty lift.
