Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that one new express bus service will run between Harrow and North Finchley (SL10), and another between North Finchley and Walthamstow (SL1).
It follows a public consultation on proposals to introduce the two limited-stop services.
The routes will become part of London’s express bus service, Superloop, which aims to improve transport links in the capital’s outer boroughs.
During the consultation, TfL proposed that route SL10 made 12 stops in total, including ones in Harrow, Kenton, Kingsbury, Hendon and Finchley.
Stops planned for SL1 included North Finchley, New Southgate, Arnos Grove and Walthamstow.
TfL has said that feedback about the two proposed express bus services was overwhelmingly positive.
A total of 73% of respondents said that they would be likely to use SL10 to replace a car journey, and 71% of respondents said the same about SL1.
Following feedback, the express service between North Finchley and Walthamstow will now also be stopping in Chingford.
Both routes will run every 12 minutes during the day, Monday to Saturday, and every 15 minutes during evenings and Sundays.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “Londoners can already ride on Superloop buses and I can’t wait for these two brand new routes to join them, providing quicker links between transport hubs, town centres, schools and hospitals in outer London.
“It’s great to see large numbers of Londoners saying these new routes could replace private car journeys, offering even more sustainable transport options and helping to build a better, fairer and greener London for all.”
TfL has already launched four Superloop express bus services in the last few months.
Route SL8 between Uxbridge and White City was introduced in July, followed by SL6 (West Croydon and Russell Square), SL7 (West Croydon and Heathrow Central) and SL9 (Heathrow and Harrow).
Consultations on a three further Superloop services – SL2 (Walthamstow Central and North Woolwich), SL3 (Thamesmead and Bromley) and SL5 (Bromley and Croydon) – closed earlier this month.
Route SL4 between Canary Wharf and Grove Park is not set to see services until the Silvertown tunnel opens in 2025.
