A fire in Upminster has damaged a “significant” part of a flat above a restaurant.
London Fire Brigade was called at 8.40am to an address in St Mary’s Lane. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters attended the scene along with officers of Met Police who were out on a patrol.
A residential property above a restaurant was found ablaze. The road remains closed as a result.
Images and video clips from the incident showed that the fire was close to a Shell petrol station.
A spokesperson from LFB has however confirmed that no injuries or damage to neighbouring properties were reported.
Fire crews from Hornchurch, Dagenham, Harold Hill and other surrounding fire stations worked for two hours and brought the fire under control by 10.44am.

The cause of the fire is yet unknown and will be investigated, the LFB spokesperson said.
Some people have shared that the fire broke out above Arian’s Restaurant & Lounge in St Mary’s Lane and that most firefighters were seen standing outside it.
An employee from Natural Balance Chinese Medicine shop said that the fire was next door to them, suggesting it was above Arian’s restaurant.
However, the Recorder has been unable to verfiy this.
The AA reported that St Mary’s Lane was partially blocked between Station Road and Tudor Gardens while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The road closure remains in place and a detour is in operation for bus routes 346 and 347.
A manager at Sweet Rose Cakery has said that most fire engines have left the scene.
