Richie Wellens made one change to his starting line-up from the midweek trip to Wycombe, with Ethan Galbraith coming in for Dan Happe, as Rob Hunt missed out as a precautionary measure.

And the visitors needed a superb save from Sam Howes to prevent Shayne Lavery giving Blackpool a fourth-minute lead.

Daniel Grimshaw was called into action four minutes later to keep out Ruel Sotiriou’s header from a whipped-in Theo Archibald cross, with Joe Pigott firing the rebound over.

Then Howes did well again to keep O’s on terms after a dangerous cross, holding onto the ball in the aftermath.

A deflected Archibald cross earned O’s their first corner of the game on 14 minutes, with Omar Beckles heading just over at the far post.

George Moncur did well to advance into the box and fire goalwards, but saw his effort drift wide of the target on 21 minutes.

And Oliver Casey saw a cross go beyond the far post at the other end as he tried to create something for the Tangerines moments later.

Archibald’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box then forced a low save from Grimshaw on 32 minutes, with Moncur and Pigott combining well before Casey came in with a timely tackle to deny the O’s striker.

But Tom James put a bit too much on his ball over the top for Sotiriou and saw it run behind for a goal kick and Pigott had penalty claims waved away as he looked to connect with a deflected cross five minutes before the interval.

Ed Turns fired just wide from the edge of the box after chesting it down well as the first half remained goalless, but with O’s having plenty to feel positive about.

Beckles produced an important touch to stop Irish midfielder Andy Lyons breaking into the O’s box soon after the restart, with Archibald coming up with a superb covering tackle as Lavery looked set to fire.

Albie Morgan fired straight at Howes on 54 minutes, before Turns was shown the first yellow card of the day.

And O’s had a let-off when Jensen Weir fired against a post, after Howes had made a good first save to deny the home side, with James needing treatment around the hour mark before he could continue.

Pigott did well to win possession and break into the box, but his deflected cross could not find a teammate, and he made way for Jordan Graham soon after, as Sotiriou moved into a more central position.

And O’s were forced into a second change when James went down again and was unable to continue, with Watford loanee Shaq Forde coming on for his debut.

Idris El Mizouni beat several defenders before finding Moncur in the box, but the midfielder put his effort over and made way for Charlie Pegrum soon after.

El Mizouni picked up O’s second yellow card, before Graham and Lyons needed treatment after a clash of heads in the visitors’ box.

Both were ok to continue as the match went into nine minutes of stoppage time, with Graham picking up a booking before Sotiriou was taken down as he looked to attack and had his name taken for questioning the decision not to award a yellow card to the offender.

Jordan Brown headed onto the roof of the Blackpool net in the 96th minute, then produced a brave block at the other end before Lavery fired just wide from an acute angle as it remained goalless.
