They snapped a three-game losing streak with a comprehensive 12-2 win over MK Thunder at Romford’s Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Sunday.

And Buckman is hoping they can repeat the trick when the two sides clash again in a quick return meeting this Sunday.

“It was a much-needed win and confidence boost for the guys,” said Buckman.

“I said to the team after the game winning is a habit and seeing them play with a smile on their face brings good results and is something we need to continue going forward.”

Thunder opened the scoring with barely two minutes gone and, after Luca Pascale levelled, regained the lead in the eighth minute.

But Brynley Capps got the hosts back on terms for a second time, then put them 3-2 up with a powerplay goal.

Ewan Hill added a fourth with 24 seconds left in the opening period, then completed his hat-trick either side of a third goal from Capps in the middle session.

Capps made it 8-2, before Hill struck twice more in quick succession to complete his nap hand, with Joe Tomalin adding a late brace to round off the dozen.

“We took half a period to get going but once we did we never looked back,” added Buckman.

“After the disappointment in Solent [a 10-4 defeat] I wanted the guys to go back to basics and build their confidence back to how they can play.

“Obviously there were lots of goals across the line-up in the end, but importantly two points on the board.”

How they stand (P-W-L-OL-Pts): Slough Jets 12-9-3-0-18; Chelmsford 13-9-4-0-18; Streatham 11-8-3-0-16; Solent 8-5-3-0-10; Invicta 10-5-5-0-10; Romford 11-3-7-1-7; Oxford 12-2-9-1-5; MK 7-1-6-0-2.
