The Essex Senior League outfit announced their immediate relocation from Barking’s Lawtech Stadium at the start of the week.

And they are due to welcome Ilford on Saturday, before a showdown with table-topping Woodford Town on Wednesday.

“We’re looking to build a base here with the women and youth teams, getting everyone under one roof,” said Spinks.

“It’s a shame what happened to East Thurrock, but it’s non-league football and we hope the locals come and support us.

“Our ideal aim is to be back in Havering, but we’ve been going round in circles.

“This is a base to build upon and call home and we’re looking forward to it.”

Boro ended a four-match losing run with a 7-2 success at basement boys Coggeshall Town last weekend.

And Ilford snapped a five-match streak of their own with a 2-1 victory at Hullbridge Sports in midweek.

“I saw their result on Tuesday, which was an excellent result for them,” added Spinks.

“We will be taking nothing for granted. We’re looking for a quick start at the new ground, but it’s just a game of football.

“The stadium is more for the fans and a chance to build that relationship.

“I expect a good performance to build on Saturday.”

Boro plan to allow free entry to the grand opening this weekend, with various activities for fans and the local community.

And long-serving chairman Steve Gardener is also relishing the fresh start.

“For the first time since the club’s reformation we will have a ground we can call our own for the foreseeable future,” he said.

“With the support of fans and the local community we look to grow the support, the club, and continue with the growth of the club, and supporting the local community.

“We’ve waited a long time for somewhere we could use as a base, for events, somewhere permanent we could call home.

“We’ve been very happy at Barking FC but the opportunity to have a facility the supporters can make their own, and feel it belongs to Romford FC was an opportunity we couldn’t miss.

“It will require hard work, more volunteers but is the first stepping stone towards the club’s long term ambitions.”
