Galbraith became the club’s third new signing of the summer, after Max Sanders and Dan Agyei, having played under Wellens at Doncaster Rovers during the 2021-22 season.

And the Northern Irishman is looking forward to linking up with Wellens once again after penning a two-year deal at Brisbane Road.

“Richie was a big factor, I know how he likes to play and how he wants to get the best out of his players, so it was a great fit,” Galbraith told the club website.

“From playing against Leyton Orient last season, I got a good feel for the side here and the style of football.”

Galbraith came through the ranks at Linfield in Northern Ireland, then joined Manchester United’s academy and signed professional terms in May 2018.

The central midfielder came off the bench to make his debut in a Europa League tie against Kazakhstan’s Astana, then went on loan to Doncaster and played 33 times.

He played a key role for Salford City last season, playing 38 games in all competitions and scoring four times as they finished seventh in League Two.

Galbraith, 22, has won two senior caps for Northern Ireland against Luxembourg and Romania.

O’s start their pre-season campaign at Billericay Town on July 7 (7.45pm), and also face Charlton, Chelmsford, Ebbsfleet, Dagenham & Redbridge, Colchester and Bishop’s Stortford.

They start the League One season at Charlton on August 5 and visit Plymouth in the Carabao Cup first round a few days later.
