Debris from a collapsed roof has shut a busy main road to traffic in Walthamstow.

Part of Hoe Street has been closed to traffic between Selbourne Road and Lea Bridge Road this morning (July 27).

According to Waltham Forest Council, a collapsed roof caused debris to block the street.

Police confirmed that a partial building collapse was reported to them shortly before 4am.

They added that emergency services responded to the incident and that no injuries had been reported.

At first the road closure only extended from Lea Bridge Road to Bakers Avenue, but this has since been extended to Lea Bridge Road.

The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for more information about the incident.
