But Barkingside, Newbury Forest, Clapton and Tower Hamlets all tasted defeats, while Hackney Wick saw their game postponed.

Hutton edged past Hamlets 2-1 at Billericay’s New Lodge ground to maintain their perfect start to life at step six and sit top of the table.

And Clapton Community also remain unbeaten on seven points from a possible nine, following their 4-2 win over St Margaretsbury at the Old Spotted Dog ground.

They took the lead when a Bailey Pryce corner was spilled by the visiting keeper and Arthur Wright poked the loose ball home.

And Wright doubled the advantage when beating the keeper to the ball and finding the net from a tight angle.

Saints hit back from a quick counter-attack, then saw their keeper save a penalty from Julian Austin, who then had an effort ruled out for offside before half-time.

And after Wright spurned a good chance to complete his hat-trick, the visitors got back on level terms after another fast break.

Clapton Community regained the lead when great work by Lewis Owiredu on the left saw him cross for Austin to chest the ball down and volley into the net.

And they made sure of the points when Wright cut the ball back for Owiredu fo fire home number four.

Manager Geoff Ocran said: “This is exactly the sort of football we want to play, that’s our identity, we want to get a brand they enjoy playing and where we see attacking football.

“We’ve always entertained so I don’t see why because we’ve stepped up we should change that philosophy.

“Could we have been more clinical with the chances we had? Yeah, we could have, but it’s a learning curve for a lot of the players. Seven points on the board at this stage, we can’t complain at all.”

Barkingside were left to rue an early penalty miss as Hoddesdon opened the scoring at Cricklefields soon after.

And the visitors secured the points with a second goal just past the hour mark.

Newbury Forest lost by the odd goal in seven at Burnham Ramblers, despite two goals from Joshua Duyile and another from Chaka Barnett.

And Clapton lost by the same margin at Enfield Borough to also suffer a second successive defeat at the start of the campaign.
