Urchins made it four wins from four with back-to-back home victories over Bognor Regis Town (4-1) and Folkestone Invicta (4-2) this week.

And that has left them eight points clear at the top of the Isthmian League Premier Division as they prepare to take on their lowly rivals on Saturday.

But Morison says there can be no room for complacency at the Aspect Arena.

“These are the worst games. We put expectations on ourselves and we need to be right,” he said.

“Lots of teams are in the FA Trophy and we want to put points on the board so we have to go and have the right attitude.

“Can we make it a perfect month? That’s the plan. Then we’re into a new month and a new target.”

Liam Nash opened the scoring at Bridge Avenue last weekend, before Bognor’s Matt Burgess was sent off for a second bookable offence on 26 minutes.

Ryan Scott headed a second, with Nash making it 3-0 at the start of the second half.

And although Calvin Davies replied, Femi Akinwande claimed his first goal for Hornchurch to complete the scoring late on.

“He’s a great kid. He’s come in with a smile on his face, he’s bubbly, buzzing and has fitted in really well,” added Morison.

“We started well, got a goal, a great strike from Nashy and then they self-destructed for 5-10 minutes.

“We scored from a corner after the sending-off and it ended up as a decent result.

“It was frustrating to concede, but you can’t be perfect all the time.”

Urchins fell behind in midweek, but Nathan Bertram-Cooper got them back on terms before half-time.

Folkestone regained the lead midway through the second half, before Ade Yusuff squared matters again and Akinwande added a late brace.

“We should’ve been winning but they got a breakaway goal,” said Morison.

“We got an equaliser but then Nashy, who has been in unbelievable form, misses two chances that you’d put your house on him scoring.

“They scored again after a mistake from the goalie, it happens, but we went again and got three in nine minutes.

“We should’ve won by more but you never score from all the chances you get.

“We went more aggressive with a 3-5-2 formation to try and win and not be content with a draw.

“The boys were fantastic. We’ve scored some great goals from open play and set-pieces.

“It’s really pleasing, you can win all types of ways. It was all about us and our attitude. It was a solid result.”
