And table-topping Woodford Town saw their unbeaten run ended by a heavy 4-0 home loss against Tilbury at Ashtons on Friday night.

Richard Kone put Athletic Newham ahead from the penalty spot at the end of the first half, with Daniel Izekor doubling their advantage after the restart.

Kone struck again, taking his tally for the season to 16, with Izekor adding his second to make it 4-0, before substitute Michael Olatunji got in on the act to complete the home side’s nap hand.

Ilford replied in the closing stages but it was scant consolation for the Foxes.

Keanu Hill scored the only goal of the game at the Mile End Stadium, as Sporting Bengal beat FC Clacton to move up to third in the table.

Hill was quickest to react in the box when a throw-in was flicked on to find the net in first-half stoppage time.

Barking, meanwhile, saw Jack Dickinson claim a last-minute winner in their 3-2 victory against Takeley at the Lawtech Stadium.

Gael Kileba put Blues ahead midway through the first half, but the visitors were back on terms on the half-hour mark.

Dickinson restored Barking’s lead before the hour mark, but Takeley squared matters for a second time a few minutes later which looked like earning them a point.

But Dickinson earned Blues maximum reward with his second at the end of normal time.

After a goalless first half, Romford took the lead at lowly Stanway Rovers through leading scorer Hassan Nalbant on 52 minutes.

But the hosts were gifted an equaliser against the run of play, as Max Sherlock netted, and then went 2-1 up with a far-post header from Joe Debell on 75 minutes.

Boro conceded a third on the counter-attack to Tom Lewes to come away empty-handed.

Frenford fell behind after just four minutes at Hullbridge Sports and conceded again midway through the first half.

Roy Stevens replied shortly before the break to give them hope for the second half, but that was shattered just four minutes after the restart as Hullbridge netted again to seal a 3-1 victory.

Woodford fell behind against just five minutes against Tilbury on a wet and miserable evening and were reduced to 10 men on the half-hour mark when Bolovan was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The Dockers doubled their lead on 37 minutes and struck again just before half-time.

And they added a fourth on 87 minutes to inflict a first loss in 14 matches on Shane Baptiste’s side, who remain three points clear at the top after nearest rivals West Essex also lost at Coggeshall Town.

Baptiste posted: “Firstly, big credit to Tilbury who deserved their win. Bad day at the office for us for multiple reasons but no excuses suffering heavy defeat at home is unacceptable.

“However, we must get back on track and that’s my job to ensure it happens. Sorry to our fans, it’s my fault and Wednesday you’ll see that reaction from us all.”
