The number of schools, including those in east London, with collapse-prone reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac) has increased.

An additional 27 schools have been found today (September 19) to have the dangerous concrete.

An updated list the Department for Education (DfE) released today shows 147 education settings in England now have Raac as of last Thursday (September 14).

Of those, here are the east London schools newly affected: 

  • Ark John Keats Academy in Enfield

  • Stepney All Saints Church of England Secondary School in Stepney 

  • Mulberry Stepney Green Mathematics and Computing College in Stepney

Five east London schools were previously named by the DfE on September 6 to contain Raac.

  • Lambourne Primary School in Romford

  • Seven Mills Primary School in Tower Hamlets

  • St Francis’ Catholic Primary School in Newham

  • The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School in Upminster

  • The Palmer Catholic Academy in Ilford

Schools continue to offer a mix of face-to-face and remote learning.
