Metropolitan Police were called at 2.15pm on Tuesday (August 29) to reports of a body in the lake at Fairlop Waters Country Park.
Officers attended and retrieved the body of a 72-year-old man at the scene.
A spokesperson for Met Police said the man’s next of kin have been notified.
Following police enquiries, they added, the death was deemed “unexpected but non suspicious”.

A file will be prepared for the coroner, the spokesperson said, suggesting that an inquest might be opened into the death.
Video clips of the scene shared on social media showed London Fire Brigade at the scene too.
A spokesperson for Aqua Action in Fairlop Waters Country Park told the Recorder that the site was closed to the public while police conducted their investigation.
It is back open now, they said, and added: “It was in no way related to any business at Fairlop Waters. Unfortunately, the park is very big and it was at the other end. But we have to shut when something like this happens.
“That affects us, the boats, the sailing club, rowing club, the dog walking club.
“The incident was only for a day, and it has all been cleared up now.”
