A man “punched a cyclist in the face’ after his bike collided with a little girl in Hackney.

Police said that at around 11am on May 13 a male cyclist was involved in a collision with a girl at a zebra crossing in Lauriston Road.

Immediately after the incident, the cyclist was approached by a man who “punched him in the face” before leaving the scene.

The suspect is not believed to be known to the child.

Police said the little girl did not sustain any injuries from the collision.

The cyclist had to be taken to hospital by a friend where he was treated for a broken jaw, an injury police said would require extensive surgery.

Hackney police are now appealing for any drivers who may have been in the area at the time and have dash-cam footage to help with their investigation.
