A man was allegedly threatened with acid before his car was stolen in Romford.
Police were called at around 12:51am on Tuesday (June 20) to reports of a suspected robbery in Old Church Road.
A spokesperson for Met Police said the victim’s car was stolen after the robbers warned of using what was believed to be a “corrosive substance” on him.
Romford Town SNT on Twitter said the man was threatened with “alleged acid”.

Early enquiries, they said, suggest the substance involved was not corrosive.
The victim was not injured and officers are still investigating the incident.
No arrests have been made so far but police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting CR5411204/23.
The incident comes after a report in November last year suggested that Romford topped the chart of towns where a car is “most likely to be stolen”.
