The landmark will remain raised during the work period, and whilst pedestrians and vehicles can not cross, the attraction will remain open to the public.

Visitors will need to book their tickets online in advance and can enter only via the ticket office on the north side, near the Tower of London.

Why is Tower Bridge closed this weekend?

The Tower Bridge is closed and raised to all for essential repairs which are being paid for by the Bridge House Estates, the charity which owns and maintains Tower Bridge

The work will replace metal plates at the rear of the bascules, the bridge’s moving parts, that have become damaged by wear and tear.

It will be carried out by Sheffield-based contractor 3RS Engineering.
