The warning will affect all of London starting at 4pm today (Wednesday, September 20) until 3am on Thursday, September 21.
The heavy rain is expected to cause some travel disruption with bus and train services likely to have longer journey times.
The Met Office has also warned that there could be an interruption to power supplies with a small chance of flooding too.

London issued a yellow weather warning for rain
The Met Office forecast suggests dark clouds and non-stop heavy rain over the evening with a 95% chance of precipitation.
There will also be some strong winds affecting London, with wind gusts reaching 31mph in the region.

Discussing the yellow weather warning, a Met Office spokesperson said: “A spell of rain, heavy at times, will affect the area later Wednesday afternoon and into the early hours of Thursday.
“15 to 20 mm could fall within an hour in places with as much as 30 to 40 mm over 2 to 3 hours.
“This may lead to some travel disruption, especially during the busy evening travel period.”
