Running between Friday, September 8 and Sunday, September 17, the programme is returning for its 29th year.

Run in conjunction with the National Trust and the People’s Postcode Lottery it helps highlight the history and culture of many significant locations.

Many National Trust sites will be open for free on selected days during the event, and here are some you can visit in London.

The Golden Hinde

Marking its 50th anniversary, The Golden Hinde is hosting its open day on Sunday, September 10. 

Guests will get the chance to see the progress of the refit and the central London shipyard in person.

Plus, there will also be an audio tour with previous crew members telling stories of the ship’s adventures as a museum ship travelling around the world.

Two Temple Place

Step inside the beautiful interiors of William Waldorf Astor’s London Estate Office on the Victoria Embankment.

Two Temple Place offers sites of extraordinary architecture and craftsmanship and an insight into Astor’s life. 

At the opening, staff will be on hand to answer any questions and there will be an interactive family trail.

British Vintage Wireless and Television Museum

Discover the history of Britain’s electronics industry at the British Vintage Wireless and Television Museum.

Founded in 1976, visitors get the chance to learn all there is to know about the British radio and television industry. 

You can see some of the very rarest radios and television receivers and learn the stories behind them.

Crystal Palace Dinosaurs

You can explore the sites of the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs which is home to statues including the plesiosaurs and icthyosaurs and more. 

The statues were found by Mary Anning and Charles Darwin on his voyage on HMS Beagle and represent the first-ever attempt anywhere in the world to model extinct animals from their fossil remains. 

Across the open days, there will be live actors, guided tours, arts and crafts and much more.

Hidden Spaces Tours

In Greenwich, you can learn all about the hidden spaces of the St Alfege church. 

With access to the crypt area, visitors will learn about the stories of the people who have played their part in the history of Greenwich.

Plus you can visit the galleries of the church for incredible views of the fine interior.
