Leyton Orient confirm Lawrence Vigouroux move to Burnley

The Chilean was a key performer for Richie Wellens’ side as they won the League Two title last season, keeping nine successive home clean sheets and 23 in total along the way.

And Director of Football Martin Ling admitted he had been a fantastic player for the Brisbane Road club.

“Whilst we are disappointed to see Lawrence go, we would never stand in the way of a player making a move to a Premier League side,” Ling told the club website.

“Lawrence was a fantastic player for us and a great person to have in and around the dressing room. We wish him nothing but the best for the future.”

Vigouroux joined O’s in January 2020 and made 152 appearances in all competitions, keeping an impressive 59 clean sheets overall.

And he will link up with Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side, who won the Championship title with 101 points last season, following the expirations of his contract at Orient.

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Turf Moor and admitted it was a move he could not turn down.

“It’s amazing to be here. An unbelievable training ground to be a part of and I’m raelly happy,” he told burnleyfc.com.

“You only to look around where we’re working and training every day. This was the right step and the right way to go.

“Hopefully I can leave an impression here.”

Kompany added: “We are looking forward to Lawrence being part of what we are building here at Burnley.

“He has come through top academy systems to become the player he is today with stand out performances in recent years.

“He is a very talented goalkeeper with a good personality and someone we will enjoy working with.”

Vigouroux joins fellow keepers Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Denis Franchi and Arijanet Muric in the Burnley ranks.

The Clarets begin the 2023-24 Premier League season at home against defending champions Manchester City on Friday August 11 (8pm).
