Just in case you are not familiar with In The NBHD, you read that correctly, the four-day event is entirely free.
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents, said: “We are excited to bring In The Neighbourhood back to All Points East this year. We are very lucky to collaborate with Tower Hamlets, making In The Neighbourhood a real celebration of the local area. This year we have so many fantastic local businesses and vendors joining us in Victoria Park for four days of free activities and entertainment. Whether it’s a dance class, theatre or craft workshop, there really is something for everyone.”
In collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council, the local community and local organisations, the free programme takes place in between two incredible weekends of music, as well as those mentioned above there’s also APE Presents Field Day with Aphex Twin and Bonobo.
Back with some big-screen blockbusters is Open Cinema, screening a couple of brand-new releases – Air and Rye Lane alongside the smash hit Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Also on the bill are two excellent documentaries celebrating iconic modern-day figure He Named Me Malal and I Am Bolt.
And for those who love a good rom-com, then you will be grabbing front row seats for the screening of Yesterday. So, grab yourself a picnic hamper and blanket, find your perfect spot, and let In The NBHD Open Cinema do the rest.
As well as the Open Cinema screenings, there’s another link to the movies, with Bollyflex, Europe’s leading Bollywood dance company, bringing their spectacular stage show to Victoria Park.
In The NBHD never fails to showcase the best In local musical talent, and this year that much cherished tradition will be upheld by the Hackney Proms and a performance from the LDN African Gospel Choir with their interpretation of Paul Simon’s Graceland. Expect a big turnout for both those events.
At this year’s IN The NBHD, wellness and health issues are front and centre, with a well-thought-out programme of workshops and activities. Invest some time in recharging and wellness with In The NBHD’s wellbeing programmes.
Unwind and refresh with Mental Health VR Experiences presented by The Fred Company, using cutting edge technology to simulate soothing experiences that reduce stress and increase relaxation. Join Eat Club in kid friendly workshops from August 21-23, teaching young people how to eat wholesome, healthy food, celebrating the food culture linked to the social history of Tower Hamlets, and demonstrating how to produce digital food content through video and photography.
West Ham United continue to support In the NBHD, with the Hammers once again providing footy sessions, while Girls Allowed provide sessions for girls under 16, ensuring that the youngster can enjoy movement and activity in a safe space through non-traditional sports.
