Edith Harrison – who turned 107 on October 7 – celebrated her birthday last weekend with a large party held by Seabrooke Manor.

Edith has been at the care home since 2015 and has reportedly made a large impression on the staff and other residents there.

A spokesperson for the care home who works closely with the 107-year-old said: “Edith is a great character in the home, she knows what she wants and makes sure staff are there to help her in all aspects of her daily living.

“She takes great pride in her appearance [and] she is one smart lady.”

Edith was raised near London Bridge with her siblings and went to school in Tower Hamlets. Before her time in the home, the 107-year-old worked as a seamstress and “likes to talk about her dressmaking days”.

At Seabrooke Manor, Edith is said to enjoy socialising with staff and residents, whether it be knitting, playing bingo, or sitting in the gardens. The care home’s spokesperson said: “Edith loves to talk about her family and her past especially what happened during the war and her school days”.

Despite her impressive age, Edith is reported to have enjoyed her birthday celebrations and loved all the attention she received on her very special day, which included a visit from the Mayor of Redbridge and the staff and residents at Seabrooke Manor.

The spokesperson added: “Everyone had a great time with a lovely buffet, special birthday cake and live music.”
