Hour-by-hour Met Office forecast as thunderstorms set to hit London

Thunder is set to loom over London today, so make sure to pack an umbrella if you’re heading out.

The Met Office has released a yellow warning of heavy showers and thunderstorms which may cause some flooding and travel disruption.

The warning is set until 7pm this evening (August 2) and covers all of London.

People can expect to see some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.

There is a “good chance” driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times – according to the Met Office.

There could also be delays to train services, and some short term loss of power and other services.

Heavy showers, perhaps thundery, soon easing away east. Cloud thickening for a time overnight, with further outbreaks of mainly light rain, but some heavier bursts. Blustery winds easing a little.
