Hornchurch sign duo ahead of Dagenham & Redbridge date

Hornchurch welcome Dagenham & Redbridge to Bridge Avenue for their next pre-season test on Saturday having made two new signings in midweek.

Experienced defender Tommie Hoban has joined the ranks, having started out in the Arsenal youth set-up and played 54 times for Watford, before loan spells at Blackburn and Aberdeen, where he moved permanently in 2020.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international took time out of the game to focus on his business and new Urchins boss Steve Morison was delighted to secure his services.

“We’re thrilled to announce the signing of Tommie,” he told the club website.

“With his exceptional skills and valuable league experience, we’re confident he will make a significant contribution to our team and help us in our pursuit of promotion.

“Tommie’s presence will undoubtedly strengthen our squad and enhance our chances of achieving our goals. We’re excited to have him on board.”

Sean Scannell is another experienced player added to the Isthmian League Premier Division club’s ranks, having made 140 appearances for Crystal Palace during nine years at Selhurst Park.

Scannell spent six years at Huddersfield, playing 158 times, and had spells at Bradford, Blackpool and Grimsby while also representing Republic of Ireland youth and B teams.

“We are thrilled to have Sean on board and believe that his skills and experience will greatly contribute to our team’s success,” added Morison.

“A highly talented player, Sean has proven himself on the field time and time again. With his exceptional technical abilities, we are confident he will make a significant impact on our team’s performance.

Morison saw his new club open their campaign with a 3-1 win at Essex Senior League outfit Barking last weekend.

They took an early lead through a trialist and, after making wholesale changes, saw George Saunders and Ade Yusuff net a minute apart soon after the restart to make it 3-0.

Aundre Spencer replied with a fine free-kick for the hosts, who were denied by two good saves from Harry Seaden.

*Hornchurch have confirmed their admission and season ticket prices for the new season have been frozen.

Matchday entry will be £12 adults, £7 concessions (over-65) and £3 for 12 to 16-year-olds, with under-12s admitted free if accompanied by an adult.

Season tickets are priced £200 for adults, £120 for concessions and £30 for 12 to 16-year-olds.

The Supporters’ Association will hold their AGM in the clubhouse on Sunday July 30 at midday.

All supporters, members and non-members are invited to attend.
