Urchins moved 11 points clear at the top of the Isthmian League Premier Division table with a 2-0 win over nearest rivals Enfield Town last weekend.

And they head to lowly Cheshunt on Saturday full of confidence as they look to extend their 13-game unbeaten start to the league campaign.

“The lads look forward to a Tuesday when they know we haven’t got a game and we train,” Morison told the club website.

“They know what’s to come. We’ll keep working, I said it in my programme notes, can we all be better?

“If we keep improving – I thought the fans were fantastic, the players were excellent – we just keep grafting and working and we’ll get to where we want to be.”

Enfield had the better of the first half at Bridge Avenue, but Hornchurch broke the deadlock on 53 minutes when Ryan Scott headed home from a Tom Wraight corner.

And history repeated itself seven minutes from time as the pair combined once again, with Scott netting his eighth goal of the campaign to seal the points.

“It wasn’t the prettiest game, I didn’t enjoy watching it,” added Morison.

“But I did enjoy us winning. You have to find a way and we scored two good goals from set-plays and could’ve had more to be fair.

“It’s a great result, a clean sheet, we haven’t had one for a little while. To limit a team who had scored 10 goals in the last two games to one shot on goal in the second half is a pretty good effort.”

Goalscorer Scott echoed those sentiments, adding: “It was nice to get a clean sheet, especially against a good side like Enfield.

“We knew it was going to be tough and we were really under pressure, especially first half.

“The goals keep coming, I don’t really know what or why, but I’ll take it all day long. Wraighty’s assists must be doing alright as well.

“Whoever scores, as long as we keep winning, keep doing our jobs, keep professional, then happy days, who cares how it comes.”

As for not having a midweek fixture, after recording a ninth successive league win, Scott added: “Training is always good, the boys enjoy it, so that’s something to look forward to, not a pain.

“It was tough today, it was heavy. I was surprised how good the pitch was but it wasn’t easy, especially towards the end, there was a few tired bodies, so just rest up and go again.”
