Patients have had their say on Havering’s GP surgeries as part of a survey conducted on behalf of the NHS.

What is the NHS saying?

The Recorder contacted NHS North East London, which commissions GP services in the borough, for a response to their findings.

A spokesperson recognised that there is “room for improvement” and said NHS NEL will be “working closely with our GPs and their teams across the borough to address the issues raised.”

They said: “We are always keen to learn from patient feedback so these results give us valuable insight in helping us to support our GP practices to be as good as they possibly can be as well as informing our primary care priorities overall.”

They claimed that all GP surgeries continued to work “exceptionally hard” to provide more appointments.

Patients in Havering, the spokesperson said, can now access a wider range of skilled healthcare staff, including podiatrists, physios and social prescribers.

They added: “These specialist staff will help improve people’s experience and enable GPs to focus more on the most pressing cases requiring medical attention.

“Despite practices facing a growing and increasingly complex demand for their services, the survey results show nearly two-thirds people (64pc) across north east London reported their experience of their surgery as ‘good’ overall which is testament to the ongoing efforts of our GPs and primary care teams.”
