Dagenham & Redbridge boss sees positives in latest win

Daggers made it three wins in a row thanks to goals from Ryan Hill, Josh Rees and Omar Mussa – as Taylor O’Kane replied for the visitors.

And Strevens was really pleased to see his side build on their previous successes against Barnet and Wealdstone over the Bank Holiday weekend.

“We played some good stuff today and built upon the last couple of results we’ve had,” he told the club website.

“I was really pleased, particularly first half, with some of the stuff we did.

“Going in 2-1, I thought we maybe should’ve been a bit more at that time, but all in all to get three wins the way we have, to back up the away performance and get a couple of home victories in a row, is really nice to see.”

Hill opened the scoring with a superb 25-yard finish, moments after seeing another chance saved, and Rees smashed home a second when Charley Kendall flicked on a Myles Weston cross.

But O’Kane hit back to give the visitors hope before the break, with Strevens adding: “I was quite disappointed with the goal because it was nearly half-time and just took our foot off the pedal with the shape.

“They’d been playing lots of football out from the back and we stopped it and it was a real first time where we switched off and gave them a moment.

“But loads of positives all over the pitch.”

Fylde had an effort ruled out for offside, before Mussa fired home on the hour to seal the points, adding to his effort at Wealdstone in the last match.

And Strevens was also able to hand a debut to new signing Flynn Clarke, who has joined on loan from Norwich City.

“The goals were real good goals,” he added.

“Team-wise the second one is my favourite but all three were good. Mussa’s one at the end, the quality he has got for the strike across the keeper.

“Flynn trained with us and I was really pleased to get him on board. He come on and played in a couple of positions but his best is probably off the front man. Because of stuff going on we had to move him around.

“He fitted in really well, got on with the boys straight away, it’s a good group to come into.”
