On Friday, September 1 there will be no trains running at all, it announced on its website today (August 23).

c2c operates trains connecting central London and Essex, running through parts of east London including West Ham, Barking, Upminster and Rainham.

The RMT union is planning strike action on August 26 and September 2, with the ASLEF union walking out on September 1.

c2c said its network “will not be massively impacted” by the August 26 action, with all services running to and from Fenchurch Street and 12-carriage trains not calling at Limehouse the alterations for that day.

On September 2, there will be two trains per hour running between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness on each of the lines going via Laindon and Ockendon.

But there will only be one train an hour between Fenchurch Street and Grays via Rainham.

According to c2c, this represents a reduction of around a third of its usual Saturday service.

Rob Mullen, c2c managing director, said: “I’m really disappointed that an agreement with our trade unions hasn’t been reached. The impact of this ongoing action is significant for our customers and colleagues.

“I’m hopeful that further meetings with the unions are productive and see progress made toward concluding this challenging time for the railway.”

c2c has advised passengers to check the National Rail website before they travel by visiting www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Tickets for Saturday, August 26 can be used on the day before the date on the ticket or up to and including Tuesday, August 29.

Tickets for Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2 can be used on Thursday, August 31 or up to and including Tuesday, September 5, c2c added.

Ticket acceptance on other providers and the temporary removal of ticket restrictions may be available, according to the operator.

Mr Mullen added: “We are sorry that we cannot run a service on 1 September and encourage our customers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys on 2 September due to the reduced number of trains running.”
