Brentwood’s town centres are set to receive a £2 million boost over the next five years.
Businesses in Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone have voted in favour of developing a Business Improvement District (BID) – to be called Brentwood Connected BID.
A business plan submitted by the BID – a business-led scheme – says it will “bring an additional £2m investment into Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone over the next five years to provide additional services and initiatives that support and promote our area as a destination and drive a prosperous local economy”.
Brentwood Council announced that 140 businesses (80 per cent of those who voted), supported the scheme.

A postal ballot was held last month on a proposal to develop the BID and the deadline was on June 29.
A proposal was first made by the Brentwood Business Partnership to the council.
The vote turnout by eligible ratepayers, or businesses that could be a part of the scheme in Brentwood, was 35pc.
