A man has been arrested after a woman in her 60s was allegedly attacked at her east London home.

Ch Supt Simon Crick, responsible for policing in Newham, thanked the “diligent and fast-paced” investigative work from the Met’s Predatory Offender Unit for making an arrest within 48 hours of a report.

He said specialist support is being given to the woman.

Police, he added, “will do everything in their power” to track and bring to justice men who target women and girls.

He urged all victims of an assault to report the crime, whether the incident was recent or old.

He said: “Have confidence you will be listened to.”
