Seven pedestrians and the driver of the car were found injured in Aldwych at 3.35am on October 29.

They were taken to hospital for further treatment where their conditions were initially unknown.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed today (October 31) that four of the pedestrians remain in hospital.

Their conditions were assessed as potentially life-changing.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has since been bailed until late January.

Police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 03:35hrs on Sunday, 29 October to reports of a car in collision with a number of pedestrians at a bus stop in Aldwych, WC2.

“London Ambulance Service attended and confirmed seven pedestrians were taken to hospital for treatment.

“Four remain in hospital with potentially life changing injuries.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving; he was taken to hospital as a precaution.

“He has since been bailed until late January.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue. The incident is not being treated as terror related.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 1295/29Oct.”
