From elegant and luxurious tasting menus to neighbourhood restaurants serving homespun meals, here are the London restaurants to be added to the Michelin Guide this October.
1 Bossa, Marylebone
A handsome restaurant serving finessed modern Brazilian cuisine, and the drama of an open kitchen. Head Chef Chaves worked for many years at the two Michelin-starred restaurant Oteque in Rio de Janeiro.
What Michelin said: Bringing the flavours of Brazil to Britain, the menu offers dishes like grilled red prawns with pirão, rump of picanha and seafood moqueca.
Address: 4 Vere Street, Marylebone W1G 0DG

2 Archway, Battersea
A bistro and wine bar with a timeless feel and an Italian touch, Archway’s compact menu and rotating wine list reflect its sustainable ethos. Ingredients are ethically sourced or foraged and then turns into elegant yet unfussy dishes such as burrata with delica pumpkin and cavolo nero and traditional beef ragu.
What Michelin said: You may hear the rumble of trains overhead, but it’s often replaced by the buzz of diners flocking here to try the rustic Italian cooking with an appealing simplicity.
Address: Arch 65, Queen’s Circus, Wandsworth SW8 4NE

3 Counter 71, Shoreditch
Joe Laker’s (ex-Fenn, St Leonards) new restaurant serves only 16 guests a night in one sitting. A modern British chef’s table, diners indulge in a paired back tasting menu in which fine British produce is King.
What Michelin said: Dinner is served to all guests at 7.15pm, so be sure to arrive on time or you’ll miss out on the boldly flavoured, modern British cooking.
Address: 71 Nile Street, Shoreditch N1 7RD

4 Elodie, Selsdon
Housed in the impressive 19 century manor housed on 200 acres of rewilded land, the flagship restaurant for Birch Selsdon – an escape from city life not far from a Tube station – Elodie is every bit as focused on serving you nature in all of its glory as Birch is. Read a review of the restaurant here.
What Michelin said: The whole place has a theme of reconnecting with nature, which is reflected in a seasonal tasting menu that features produce from their own garden and gives plenty of attention to vegetables.
Address: 32 Selsdon Road, South Croydon CR2 6PB
Website: birchcommunity.com
5 Giulia, Shepherd’s Bush
Seasonal, fresh and refined Italian food made with heart, Giulia is a welcoming restaurant for the family. Both the menu and wine list are short, but considered.
What Michelin said: There’s an authentic, honest feel to this small Italian neighbourhood restaurant. The eponymous owner Giulia can be seen chatting away to guests in her native language and offering great hospitality alongside the cooking.
Address: 77 Askew Road, Hammersmith W12 9AH
Website: giuliarestaurant.co.uk
6 Humo, Mayfair
The restaurant’s four-metre grill brings the drama and coal cooked flavours to this stately restaurant that serves up modern, experimental dishes with South American and Japanese twangs.
What Michelin said: Cooking over fire usually implies a certain freestyling ruggedness, but the clever and sophisticated techniques here demonstrate its limitless possibilities.
Address: 12 St George Street, Mayfair W1S 2FB

7 Mountain, Soho
Another London newcomer, Mountain is a Spanish restaurant by Brat founder Tomos Parry. The menu, designed to be shared is long and takes inspiration from leisurely lunches and BBQs; think prawns, shellfish and rich beef sweetbreads.
What Michelin said: Simple dishes with fabulous natural flavours are at the core of this busy spot in the centre of Soho.
Address: 16-18 Beak Street, Soho W1F 9RD

8 The Parakeet, Kentish Town
A relatively new pub for north London, The Parakeet has ex-Brat chefs Ben Allen and Ed Jennings cooking up modern British and European classics with a deft touch, cooking dishes over a grill for that delectable flame licked taste. It has set up shop in what once was the landmark Victorian pub The Oxford Tavern.
What Michelin said: Take a 19C pub, add wood-fired grilling, then finish with the buzz of a semi-open kitchen – and you have The Parakeet.
Address: 256 Kentish Town Road, Kentish Town NW5 2AA
