In just a few short weeks, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be expanding across all of Greater London.
Proposed by Transport for London (TfL) and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the ULEZ was created to help decrease air pollution in the region.
The expansion will mean that all vehicles that do not meet emission standards will have to pay a daily fixed rate of £12.50.
Although some are exempt from paying the ULEZ fee, if you are found not paying the charge you will face a fine.
Some were unaware that they will need to pay the fee facing fines of up to £20,000.
However, there is a way where you can pay the ULEZ fee without having to worry about risking a fine.
ULEZ is expanding across all London boroughs from the 29 August this year to help clear London’s air.
9 out of 10 cars seen driving in outer London already meet the ULEZ emission standards, based on monthly average compliance levels.

How to set up the ULEZ auto pay
If you know you will be regularly driving in the ULEZ, you can set up autopay with TfL.
The auto pay works by recording the number of charging days a vehicle enters the zone and bills users each month.
As TfL states: “Auto Pay records the number of charging days a vehicle travels in the Congestion Charge zone and, if your vehicle does not meet the emissions standards, the ULEZ and LEZ. It bills users each month.”
You can set up a ULEZ auto-pay account by heading to the ULEZ website and signing in or creating an account.
To set up your account you will need to have your vehicle registration details and bank/payment card details to hand.
Autopay will let you add up to five vehicles, however, businesses can set up six or more with Fleet Auto Pay, you can do that via this link.
How to pay the ULEZ charge
If you are not setting up autopay, you can still pay the charge via the TfL website.
You have until midnight on the third day after your journey to pay the ULEZ fee.
It is also important that you only pay through official organisations and avoid using unofficial websites to avoid any extra fees.
You can also pay the ULEZ charge on the TfL Pay to Drive in London app which lets you pay a penalty, check postcodes for the zone and more.
You can download the app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
