A new media production suite is being built for secondary school pupils in Dagenham which is to have a “mechatronics” workshop for robotics.
Cash has been given to Brook Sixth Form and Academy from the government’s T-levels capital building fund.
“This funding offers state-of-the-art facilities,” the school’s principal Kim Donovan said. “We can build a new media suite with equipment similar to the new film studios opposite.
“The mechatronics workshop will bring together engineering, media and computer science to prepare students for jobs of the future.”
The school recently changed its name to fit in with the new film industry neighbourhood that’s taking shape with the nearly-completed Eastbrook studio complex.
It is also expanding its sixth form with new T-Level courses in media production and engineering.
T-Levels equal three A-Levels, recognised by British businesses that helped to design them. They include classroom lessons as well as work experience to help school leavers get careers with the skills of the future.
