Brothers Abubakar and Ashraf Binabdulaziz, both of Eton Road, were each convicted yesterday (Monday, July 10) over their roles in the death of 18-year-old Kamran Khalid.

Kamran was stabbed more than 30 times after asking the brothers to move their van as it was blocking the road, meaning his car could not pass.

“This is yet another tragic example of a young life taken because of a minor disagreement,” said Det Insp Jamie Snell, from the Met Police’s Specialist Crime Command.

Kamran asked the brothers to move their van in the early hours of October 28, 2021, whilst driving from his gym in Whitechapel to his morning prayers.

After their brief exchange, three killers caught up with Kamran in Harrow Road – a stone’s throw away from the Binabdulaziz brothers’ own home in adjoining Eton Road.

They blocked his escape and executed him with a so-called “Rambo knife”.

Abubakar, 20, was alleged to have inflicted the majority of the stab wounds.

He was convicted of murder after a seven-week trial at Basildon Crown Court.

So was a 17-year-old associate who came out to meet the brothers after their confrontation with Kamran and delivered them the murder weapon.

The teen, who cannot be identified due to a court-imposed gagging order, also inflicted some of the stab wounds.

Ashraf, 25, who drove the van around looking for Kamran so the other two could attack him, was convicted of manslaughter.

“Abubakar Binabdulaziz and the teenager had no qualms about using knives, carrying out a ferocious attack on Kamran which saw him stabbed more than 30 times,” said DI Snell.

“My thoughts are with Kamran’s family and friends who have suffered the most unimaginable loss. I hope they can take some solace from the fact that his killers have been brought to justice.”

The three killers will be sentenced on September 8.
