Lewisham’s Robinson joins the department after a highly successful on-court career, which saw her pick up 10 WBBL titles, including the Play-off trophy at London’s O2 Arena when the Lions reigned supreme over the Leicester Riders.

The Londoner has won both the WBBL Trophy and Play-offs on three occasions and has two more Cup and Championship titles to her name. At the same time, Robinson has represented the Lions in the prestigious EuroCup competition, where she was part of a record-breaking team who flew the flag for British basketball across the continent.

Away from her fantastic career on the court, she achieved a master’s degree in Sports Management during her time at the University of Florida and is extremely passionate about giving back to the sport she loves. She has a particular ambition to help get youngsters involved and inspired by British basketball.

Robinson joins the League to bolster its marketing efforts during a period of incredible growth and investment and will continue the momentum behind the league after a record-breaking campaign. Her role will be vital in supporting the marketing team who are responsible for increasing the league’s visibility, attracting new fans and drawing up new initiatives to increase engagement within the sport.

“Everything I wanted to do after playing in America was leading to a position in the business side of the sport,” she said.

“It’s not that I don’t enjoy basketball, but there’s so much of me that wants to give back to the game, and I feel that now is the right time to do so.

“Whether that is sharing my knowledge of the sport, helping the kids, community work, anything I can do to give back, that’s what makes my heart smile.

“I can’t wait to help with the fantastic work that is already taking place in the British Basketball League and continue to grow the game.”

Joe Edwards, BBL head of marketing, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Paige to our growing marketing team within the League. This a really exciting addition to our marketing efforts – having someone of Paige’s know-how and knowledge of the sport will play a huge part in bringing the league to new audiences both domestically and beyond.

“It’s also vitally important for the league to utilise the knowledge and experience of our players wherever possible, so to be able to provide Paige with this opportunity as she transitions from her career on the court is very rewarding. We look forward to working with Paige going forwards on some big and exciting initiatives we have planned for the new season.”

This appointment continues to highlight the British Basketball League’s desire to support players’ transition following their sporting careers.

Recent examples include Mike Tuck who heads up the B.Braun Sheffield Sharks marketing efforts and Azania Stewart, who regularly featured in the League’s broadcast operations last season. As well as the likes of Kieron Achara OBE and Drew Lasker who have had successful broadcast careers covering the sport.

The League continues to proactively look to create opportunities for players to get involved with the organisation off the court, with athletes seen as playing a crucial role as ambassadors for the League and sport more generally.
