Pasta Evangelists give away free food for World Pasta Day

When World Pasta Day comes round on Wednesday October 25, the carb aficionados will set up pasta pop ups at five busy Tube stations.

Farringdon, Clapham, Fullham, Tooting and Camden Town, dubbed Farfallingdon, Claphamellini, Fusilli, Tootelloni or Camdenlloni for the day, will serve up fresh hot pasta to commuters between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Several popular pastas will be on offer, including the classic carbonara, a beef shin ragu, spicy arrabbiata and a wild mushroom pasta for the non-meat eaters.

While Pasta Evangelists is primarily a meal box and takeaway operation, in May 2021 the outfit opened their first restaurant, in Harrods no less, which is led by Head of Food Michele Rodelli (ex-Michelin starred Hakkasan Group).

Pasta Evangelists also run a Pasta Academy, where participants are led through a carb-fuelled masterclass and learn how to make fresh pasta from scratch in a class that has free-flowing prosecco.

In other pasta news, Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard will open a second NOTTO site in November. Located at 4 Henrietta Street in Covent Garden, the pasta bar will serve up freshly made pasta of the likes of pappardelle with slow cooked oxtail and beef shin; pumpkin, chestnut and pine nut ravioli with brown butter and sage; and gnoccetti with smashed sausage, fennel and chili.

These pastas will be served alongside a short menu of Italian sides and small plates, such as focaccia withs rosemary, tomato and garlic; burrata with slow-cooked cavolo nero with an anchovy, garlic and orange dressing; and grissini breadsticks with lardo di colonnata, type of salumi, and parmesan.

The restaurant, sister site to the pasta bar on Piccadilly, and will be open for lunch and dinner from Monday November 13.

World Pasta Day takes place on Wednesday October 25.
